Media Arts
Over the last decade the film industry has grown exponentially in 猎奇重口 as companies took advantage of tax breaks moved forward by the legislature and championed by Media Arts graduates in the field. This had led to regular opportunities to work in the industry whether in a large Hollywood production, like Yellowstone, or one of the many independent films produced in the state. Producing classes taught at UM are regularly taught by industry professionals, some of them former graduates. Media Arts television writing classes regularly pitch their pilot projects to industry professionals. Professional actors give workshops in casting and auditioning techniques in our film acting classes. MFA graduates from the program have held major positions in Hank Green’s company, Complexly, from producing to directing to animation and design work.
The same connectivity is beginning to happen for our new gamed design program as well. Our game design students regularly work on projects through public/private relationships throughout 猎奇重口. Some of our students have collaborated with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and UM's Wildlife Biology program to create a virtual reality application focused on sustainable hunting practices. Others have worked with the CM Russell Museum in Great Falls to develop an immersive application where patrons are immersed in historical events while riding a virtual horse. Some of our graduates are working with independent (indie) gaming companies or have become independent game developers and designers working with international team members creating serious and meaningful games.
