In partnership with the Franklin Institute, spectrUM and the GSK Science in the Summer™ teaches elementary students the core principles of science and seeks to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning through fun, engaging activities. The program also works to equalize educational opportunities and mitigate the effects of summer learning loss. spectrUM works with SciNation to bring free, hands-on science to the Flathead Reservation and branches of the Missoula Public Library.
In the summer of 2024, this program invited children to take the role of scientists as they investigate the challenges of exploring and traveling in space. The activities include astrobiology, planetary geology, robotics, rockets, and spacesuit design. A new theme will be announced for the summer of 2025.
