UM Concert Band Festival
February 24-25, 2025
- Stimulating and enriching experience in an educational atmosphere.
- Get feedback from some of the profession's top educators.
- Over 100 bands from 50 schools from four states have attended since 2008.
- Over 90% of the schools return to the festival the following year!
Format
- 30-minute performance block (streamed + audio & video recording) in the 1,100 seat Dennison Theatre.
- 30-minute clinic block (+ audio recording)with guest clinicians after your performance.
- 45-minute performance by UM Symphonic Wind Ensemble featuring in the Dennison Theatre at 1:00 p.m. both days.
Application
- First come, first served basis up to 24 ensembles.
- Invoices will be provided to each school upon registration.
- Verification of acceptance and more information will be forthcoming.
- (Application deadline February 1, 2025)
Payment
- Registration Fee: $275 per ensemble.
- Payment due on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Prof. Paul Bain
- Director of Bands, Western Washington University.
- BME - Pacific Lutheran University, MM - University of Washington
- Former professor of instrumental music education and band at Central Washington University.
- Conducted and adjudicated across the United States and in Japan, England, France, Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
- Taught public school band for 18 years
Dr. Angela Schroeder
- Associate Professor of Music and Wind Ensemble conductor at University of Alberta
- BME - University of Calgary, MM - Northwestern University, DMA - Univversity of North Texas.
- Conducted and adjudicated throughout Canada, the United States, Austria, Germany, Australia and Thailand.
- Contributed to eleven volumes of Teaching Music Through Performance in Band.
- Taught secondary school music in Calgary, AB.
