Our professional writing consultants support students, faculty, staff, and alumni of all ability levels, from all departments, at any stage in their writing or presentation process on projects of all kinds.

To access the zoom link for online appointments, click on your appointment box. In-person appointments take place at our tutoring center in the Mansfield Library (room 322). Bring a digital or printed copy of any planning or writing you have done. If you can’t keep an appointment, please cancel through the online scheduler.
Drop-In Tutoring Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
During the academic year we offer drop-in hours at the Branch Center from 3-4 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 1:30-3:30 pm on Fridays in the Mansfield Library, room 322 (entry level).

Undergraduate Students
Starting college can be overwhelming, and the expectations for college writing classes may be different than for your writing classes in high school. We invite you to make an appointment with one of our professional consultants to discuss how we can support your success. Many students discover that consistently meeting with a writing consultant makes a tangible difference in writing confidence, skill-level and performance. Be sure to give us a try. Graduate Students
The path to becoming an expert is not always smooth! Our professional consultants are trained to help with graduate-level projects, seminar papers, conference presentations, and thesis/dissertation work. Many graduate students find it helpful to set up recurring appointments to help reach writing goals. Make an appointment through the or email writingcenter@umontana.edu if you are interested in recurring appointments or would like assistance identifying a consultant who can best meet your needs. International Students
Our professional consultants are trained to work with students whose first language is not English. Register for an account and make an appointment through the . We recommend one-hour appointments for international students and encourage consistent or recurring appointments to support long-term goals. Please speak with your Writing Center consultant or email writingcenter@umontana.edu if you are interested in recurring weekly appointments.
Online and Distance Students
We are delighted to serve UM students who are studying or working remotely, and all students have the option to make their appointment online. After reserving an online appointment through , access your online meeting by logging into the scheduler at your appointment time and clicking on your appointment box to get the Zoom link. To get the most out of your session, please have your assignment prompt and anything you may have written open on your desktop. Plan to use a device with a screen large enough to see documents.
Faculty, Staff, Alumni
Even strong and experienced writers benefit from an outside reader. We work with faculty, staff and alumni on grant proposals, manuscripts, job application materials, and presentations. Please contact Director Shareen Grogan to schedule an appointment.
