The Lodge Dining Center is the newest UM building to join the LEED-certified ranks!
The Lodge Dining Center is the brand new, state-of-the-art dining hall right in the center of campus by the Bear Statue. Along with the unique and beautiful features, the building was also built with sustainability in mind. The Lodge has been officially certified as LEED Gold, which is an impressive accomplishment, especially for a dining facility that is consistently heating and cooling food.
Here are some of the “green” features that helped The Lodge Dining Center secure gold:
SENSITIVE LAND PROTECTION - We demolished old infrastructure to create room for The Lodge instead of just taking up additional green space with construction.
GREEN VEHICLES - A new EV charging station was installed near Lommasson.
ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE CREDITS - We earned 21 out of 24 points for enhanced commissioning and optimizing energy performance. This is especially impressive given that it is a culinary space, which is usually super energy intensive.
CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION WASTE MANAGEMENT - 88.85% of materials were diverted from the landfill.
LOW-EMITTING MATERIALS - Earning 3 out of 3 points, this contributes significantly to improved indoor air quality and occupant health.
