NEW PI/Co-PI, DRA Orientation/Training
From 猎奇重口 Board of Regents Policy 401.C, Legislative Auditors and National Science Foundation (NSF) Auditors, the 猎奇重口 must implement new PI training to be completed every 3 years. This training must encompass Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) as well as the proper handling of Personally Identifiable Information (PII.) Along with these new requirements, PI training must also be completed, verified and tracked every 3 years for all faculty and staff eligible to be a PI and submitting applications for a grant, contract or cooperative agreement.
The training is now accessible via CITI training, where UM already houses Human Subjects Research (IRB), Animal Research (IACUC and LAR), Biosafety (IBC), Export Control and more. To access PI Training, go to: . All other required trainings are found at /research/compliance/ and available at all times via the CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) website.
As this is a new platform and a new requirement, all previously-trained researchers will have 2025 to be trained. Any new-to-campus researchers will need to begin PI and RCR training modules to submit a Cayuse proposal, and must have all modules completed before their grant period begins. CITI will track all training requirements and reminders will be automatically generated so no one falls outside the every-three-year requirement for recertification in the future.
If you have completed Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training within the past 3 years, you will recertify that course when it is due. If you have not taken RCR or are outside of the three-year completion range, you will complete both PI Training and RCR training courses to be certified as a PI.
To facilitate award management and ongoing training, we strongly advise all involved in proposal submission and approval sign up for one or more of the ORSP listservs to receive pertinent updates.
