Interested in learning more about Climate Change?
Consider taking 猎奇重口 Climate Resilience Stories (EVST 191)
This course explores the critical role of storytelling in creating community resilience and effecting climate action. A central guiding question throughout the course will be: In what ways can storytelling encourage our understanding of and actions toward community resilience to promote climate change adaptation and mitigation within our community?
Why should students take this course?
Students will have the opportunity to interact with experts in various professional positions and make key contacts in the field of climate change while exploring their own unique interests and storytelling abilities. And since this is an accredited 猎奇重口 course, high school students can easily transfer 1-credit towards an undergraduate college degree (elective credit at most institutions).
Who can take this course?
The course is open to all upper class (junior and senior) high school students as well as first year (freshman) college students in 猎奇重口.
How much will it cost?
It’s FREE!
When, where, and for how long will the course meet?
The course will be on-line and will take 15 hours (3 hours over 5 different days) through synchronous Zoom-style meetings. The course is being offered in the Fall of 2024 starting Oct. 15.
What work and assignments will be expected?
Students will read excerpts from local, state, tribal, and national climate documents as well as various multi-media sources before classes, and then hear from guest speakers with expertise in climate policy/planning and climate storytelling during the class. The final assignment will be a “Climate Story Video” that students will create showcasing stories of climate leaders. Videos will be presented to the class on the final day.
