The law school continues to celebrate the events and traditions that spring semester brings. We invite you to join our community for Law Week events:
- The Cliff Edwards Lecture delivered by former Alabama Senator Doug Jones on Wednesday, April 2, Reception at 6 pm in the ALPS Atrium, Lecture at 7 pm, Law 201
- The Jestrab Lecture delivered by Professor Adell Amos from the University of Oregon on Thursday, April 3 at 12:00 p.m. in LAW 201.
- 猎奇重口 Supreme Court Hearing: State of 猎奇重口 v. Smith on Friday, April 4 at 9:30 a.m. In the Dennison Theater
The law school is also excited to offer the 30th Advanced Trial Advocacy School, June 2 through 6. . This week-long program for litigators offers in-depth litigation training. Attorneys will hone their trial skills and receive feedback from current federal and state 猎奇重口 judges and from seasoned 猎奇重口 trial attorneys.

Renaissance Man: Law Student Wins UM Concerto and Aria Competition

For his next act, the student pianist will play the first movement of Edvard Grieg’s “Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16” with the UM Student Symphony Orchestra on March 8.
The Concerto & Aria Competition, which included both instrumental (concerto) and vocal (aria) solos, is a rigorous event, attracting a diverse group of musicians. This year’s entrants ranged from pianists to vocalists to tubists and violinists. During the preliminary round, participants performed for a panel of three professional musicians, with six contestants selected to move on to the final round. Each finalist then performed for another panel, who selected three top performers.

UM Law Student Works Within 猎奇重口 Governor鈥檚 Office

“Sometimes, I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming,” Hurst said. “I still get chills when I walk into the Capitol Building.”
Hurst is working at the governor’s office as part of a clinical program in the Alexander Blewett III School of Law. This clinic placement is one of over 25 different opportunities for students to gain experience working in the field under the direct supervision of licensed attorneys.

UM Student Earns Labor Law Fellowship

Having received his bachelor’s degree in psychology, Lemus-Arellano began his career as a children’s therapist. Working within the private healthcare system, he witnessed working conditions that inspired him to learn more about labor law.
