What can I start doing now that I've been nominated?

- Visit your to learn about the student visa process as soon as possible. Some countries may require a FBI background check which can take up to 3 months to process before you can apply for your visa.

- Apply for financial aid if you plan to use it for your study abroad semester(s).
- Wait for Education Abroad to contact you with your placement information.
Now that I have been placed, what's next?
- There are now additional required documents available on your online study abroad account. to complete them.
- Submit your . Please review what a full time course load is in your host country and how your credits and grades will transfer back to UM.
- Contact a UM Study Abroad Ambassador and check out the site and site for advice on your exchange.
- Wait for Education Abroad to contact you with your placement confirmation package.
Now that my placement has been confirmed, what's next?
- After you meet with Education Abroad about your confirmation, enroll in the online.
- Return the time-sensitive confirmation documents with your signature by the deadline provided by Education Abroad.
- As soon as you can register on , login, make your insurance selection, and log off. You do not need your advising PIN to login.
- If you expect a financial aid refund, be sure to select your refund preference.
- Purchase your plane ticket. Make sure this coincides with your visa requirements.
- Notify your host institution of your arrival plans.
- Enroll in the .
- Pay your UM student bill and finalize your account by the deadline provided by the Office of Education Abroad.
