Building professionals....this is what the Department of Accounting and Finance is all about. The Department prepares ethically aware decision makers with effective analytical and qualitative business knowledge and skills to become professionals in their fields, with a commitment to high quality teaching and a focus on professional practice and theory. Faculty bring a wealth of professional experience and knowledge to the classroom. We encourage students to actively participate in the learning process through our student groups, Beta Alpha Psi and the Finance Club, and the College of Business Career Development program. These provide many opportunities to network with and learn from professionals.
The Department offers two majors under the BS in Business Administration Degree: Accounting and Finance. Accounting majors study financial, cost, government, and nonprofit accounting, as well as taxation, auditing and accounting information systems. Finance majors study corporate finance, investments, markets, banking, and other areas supporting financial analysis. We also offer a certificate in Accounting Information Systems to prepare business majors for professional positions that draw on the skill sets learned in both Accounting and Management Information Systems courses.
Our accounting programs are separately accredited by AACSB. The undergraduate program prepares students for positions in corporate, government, or nonprofit accounting. The Masters of Accountancy program prepares students with a greater depth and breadth of understanding of accounting and taxation issues. Most states, including 猎奇重口, require 150 credits to obtain a CPA license. Students should complete 150 credits by earning a MAcct (30 credits) after their undergraduate accounting degree (120 credits) or by double-majoring in accounting and another field.
