What is your current role at your organization?
I am a School Social Worker for School District 2 in Billings, MT.
How did you come to work at your organization?
It would be fair to say I came to 猎奇重口 chasing love. My husband was born and raised in 猎奇重口. But I also always had a soft spot for young populations. They are inspiring, moldable, and avid for learning. I see so much hope for growth in my clients!
What do you appreciate most about supervising practicum students?
I love watching the students grow into their own styles, discover their own strengths, apply themselves while understanding that there is no one right way of doing Social Work, but the sky is the limit in being creative on how to invest in our communities. I love watching my practicum students’ fresh, exciting ideas come to fruition while they search for their own path as clinicians. I learn from my students just as much as they learn from me.
What does being a social worker mean to you?
It means being a caregiver, being strategic about how to fill your own cup to continue to be able to pour into others’.
How does your role as a social worker relate to your role as a supervisor?
I try to lead by example while helping others explore themselves and make their own choices for positive change.
What is the most important thing you hope your practicum students take with them into their careers?
Their originality and their contagious excitement about the Social Work profession.
What is your favorite quote that exemplifies social work?
“Turn the pain into power”.
