Professor Bacevich is the author of two books that have profoundly influenced the current debate over American foreign policy: American Empire: The Realities and Consequences of U.S. Diplomacy (2002) and The New American Militarism: How Americans Are Seduced by War (2005). A West Point graduate, he has lectured widely in America, Europe, and Japan on the dangers arising from the illusions of our leaders about American military supremacy.

You are cordially invited to attend a seminar with Andrew J. Bacevich. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, he received his Ph.D. in American Diplomatic History from Princeton. Before accepting an appointment at Boston University, he taught at the U.S. Military Academy and at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. He has held fellowships at the Council on Foreign Relations, The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. In 2004 he was a Berlin Prize Fellow at The American Academy in Berlin. He has authored, co-authored, or edited ten books. His American Empire: The Realities and Consequences of U.S. Diplomacy(Harvard University Press, 2002) and The New American Militarism: How Americans Are Seduced by War (Oxford University Press, 2005) have had an enormous impact on the debates over U.S. foreign policy. His articles have appeared in The Wilson Quarterly, The New Left Review, Orbis, The World Policy Journal, The National Interest, Strategic Review, First Things, The Journal of Military History, Commentary, National Review, The American Conservative, The Nation, and Commonweal. He has lectured in America, Japan, and Europe on American militarism.
