Marc Racicot served as president and chief executive officer of the American Insurance Association from August, 2005 to February, 2009. Prior to that, he was a partner at the law firm of Bracewell & Patterson from 2001 to 2005 in Washington, D.C. He is a former governor (1993 to 2001) and attorney general (1989 to 1993) of the state of 猎奇重口. Racicot also served as chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2002 until 2003.
Prior to being elected attorney general of 猎奇重口, Racicot served as a prosecutor in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps (1973-1976), as deputy county attorney for Missoula County, 猎奇重口 (1976-1977) and as assistant attorney general and special prosecutor for the state of 猎奇重口 (1977-1988). Throughout his career, Racicot has been committed to children, education and community issues. He was appointed to the board of directors of the Corporation for National and Community Service by President William Clinton and has also served on the boards of Carroll College and the Lewis & Clark County United Way in Helena, 猎奇重口. As well, Racicot is a former chairman of Jobs for America’s Graduates, a former member of the Board of Visitors of the 猎奇重口 School of Law and a past chairman of America’s Promise--The Alliance for Youth, where his predecessor was Secretary of State Colin Powell. Marc Racicot was born to Bill and Pat Racicot on July 24, 1948, in Thompson Falls, 猎奇重口, the oldest of seven children. He graduated from Libby High School in 1966, Carroll College in 1970 with a degree in English and the 猎奇重口 School of Law in 1973. He married Theresa Barber, a Carroll student from Big Timber, 猎奇重口, in 1970. They have five children and eight grandchildren.
