Personal Summary
James is joining the Business School as an adjunct faculty member after a 33-year career in engineering and senior engineering management at the Boeing Company. While at Boeing, James worked in a variety of aircraft design and engineering roles, and senior leadership functions with extensive customer involvement. This included long-term international assignments in Tokyo and Paris representing Boeing with our major customers in those regions. These roles have provided a keen appreciation for the importance of leadership and business competence, cross-cultural and communication skills, and solid ethics in today’s global business environment.
While at Boeing, James completed the MBA at the University of Washington and also commenced an educational doctorate focused on organizational leadership at Seattle University. Shortly after retiring from Boeing in 2017 and upon completion of the doctorate, James served as an Assistant Professor of Engineering at Seattle Pacific University in their engineering and computer science department. James taught the year-long senior engineering design capstone course which simulated a start-up technology incubator with cross-functional teams. James also taught the engineering pre-internship course, post-internship review course and engineering communication courses.
James resides in Missoula with his wife and their daughters. James enjoys hiking, camping, fishing and flying.
