Dr. Jennifer Gookin Cavanaugh, joined the 猎奇重口 School of Music faculty in 2009 as Professor of Oboe and Music Theory. In 2022, she was appointed Director of the School of Music and during the 2023-2024 Academic Year she served as Interim Co-Dean of the College of the Arts and Media. In addition to serving as Director of the School of Music, she now serves as Interim Associate Dean of Performing Arts and Interim Director of the School of Theatre and Dance.
Dr. Cavanaugh is proud to be a Yamaha Performing Artist and has presented solo and chamber music concerts on national and international stages. She performs with the 猎奇重口 Woodwind Quintet, all members of the UM faculty, and holds the principal English horn chair with the Missoula Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Cavanaugh is passionate about wellness for artists and wellness through artistic expression and is committed to fostering an environment of access and inclusion across all programs in the College of the Arts and Media.
Prior to her appointment at the 猎奇重口, Dr. Cavanaugh served on the faculty at Central Michigan University and Luther College. She earned the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Performance from the University of Washington, the Master of Music Degree in Performance from the University of Colorado, and the Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance from Central Washington University. She is thrilled to reside in beautiful Missoula with her husband and their two children.
